Backpackers worldwide are harbingers of the live-in-the-moment lifestyle and it might be time for many of us who wait to hear news of the 2021 PCT hiking permits to live by that ethos. The Pacific Crest Trail Association has stated that it will not make an announcement on permit releases until January 15, 2021, at the earliest. And, even with that announcement, it sounds like it would be wise to alternative plans for a long trek as a plan B.
